Introductory Remarks at Bilateral Meeting with the Prime Minister of New Zealand
Your Excellency, The Honorable Prime Minister, the Right Honorable Christopher Luxon, Prime Minister of New Zealand,
And Distinguished Members of your cabinet that’s attending the APEC Meeting.
First of all, I’d like to thank you for making the time to meet me in the middle of our, yes.
And I’d like to thank you also for sending your Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters to my inauguration last month. It was a great honor. Thank you very much.
As you know, New Zealand is a good friend of Indonesia, a strategic partner. We are in the same region, and we have shared values and mutual interests. So, I would like to reaffirm my commitment to continue this relationship, to enhance the cooperation and friendship between us.
We would like to strengthen our bilateral trade, and we open our markets, and we welcome your participation in our economy.
And we also welcome your support that Indonesia would like to be more and more involved and participate in the Pacific Islands Forum, and we want to be more engaged with the Pacific countries because we now realize that we are a part of the Pacific, so we should be engaged with all the governments of the Pacific.
Once again thank you, Prime Minister, and we look forward to good engagement and great, great future ahead.
Thank you.
